Many men in Bangladesh wash their face with whatever soap is in the bathroom, shave with a blunt blade and wonder why their skin looks oily by noon and bumpy after shaving. You don't need a shelf full of products to fix this. Three daily steps, a better shave and a few habits suited to heat and humidity will make a visible difference within weeks.
The 3-Step Daily Routine
Step 1: Cleanse (morning and night)
Body soap is often too harsh for the face and can leave it tight — which can make it produce even more oil. Use a face wash made for your skin type:
- Oily or acne-prone skin: a gel or oil-control cleanser such as Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser
- Normal or dry skin: a gentle, moisturising cleanser such as LAIKOU Men Moisturising Face Cleanser
Wash for about 30 seconds with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel. See more in facial cleansers.
Step 2: Moisturise
Even oily skin needs moisture — skipping it can make skin overcompensate with more oil. In hot, humid weather choose a lightweight, oil-free gel such as Dot & Key Watermelon Cooling Gel Moisturiser. In winter, you may prefer a slightly richer lotion.
Step 3: Sunscreen (morning)
Sun exposure causes tanning, dark spots and early wrinkles — and men often spend long hours outdoors. A light, non-greasy SPF 50 sunscreen such as Innsaei Lightweight UV Sunscreen SPF 50+ won't leave a white cast or shine. Reapply if you're outdoors for long. Browse sunscreens.
How to Get a Smoother Shave
- Shave after a warm shower or hold a warm, damp towel on your face for a minute to soften the hair.
- Use shaving cream or gel, never dry soap — it lets the blade glide instead of drag.
- Use a sharp blade. A dull blade tugs hairs and causes irritation. Replace blades or disposable razors regularly — many men find 5–7 shaves a good guide. A multi-pack like LMLTOP Shaving Razor 5pcs makes that easy. See all razors.
- Shave in the direction your hair grows, especially on the neck, with light strokes. Going against the grain gives a closer shave but more irritation.
- Rinse the blade often and finish with cool water.
- Moisturise afterwards. A gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser soothes better than a stinging alcohol aftershave.
Preventing Razor Bumps and Ingrown Hairs
Razor bumps happen when shaved hairs curl back into the skin, and they are especially common in men with curly or coarse beard hair. To reduce them:
- Shave with the grain and avoid stretching the skin tight
- Don't go over the same area many times
- Exfoliate gently two or three times a week — a salicylic acid cleanser can help keep pores and hair follicles clear
- Consider a trimmer that leaves a little stubble if bumps keep coming back
If bumps become painful, infected or leave dark marks, see a doctor.
Beard Care Basics
- Wash your beard when you wash your face — sweat and dust collect in it.
- Moisturise the skin underneath to prevent flaking ("beardruff").
- Trim regularly to keep the shape neat, especially the neckline and cheeks.
Hair and Scalp
Heat and sweat can make dandruff worse. An anti-dandruff shampoo used two or three times a week often helps — for example Clear Men Cool Sport Menthol Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. Massage it into the scalp and leave it for a minute before rinsing. Explore Clear Men and our full hair care range.
Body Odour in Hot Weather
Shower daily, dry thoroughly, wear breathable cotton and apply deodorant or antiperspirant to clean, dry underarms. Our guide to body mist, perfume and deodorant explains which to use when.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can men use the same skincare products as women?
Yes. Skin type matters far more than gender. "For men" products are often the same formulas with different fragrance and packaging.
How often should I wash my face?
Twice a day — morning and night — and after heavy sweating. Washing more often can strip the skin.
Is aftershave necessary?
No. A gentle moisturiser is usually kinder to freshly shaved skin than an alcohol-based aftershave.
